Song of the One Night Stand

Saturday, October 8th, 2005

Tell me that it isn’t true
That wasn’t you
That wasn’t me

Tell me it was just a dream
The gasps, the moans, the sweet release
The wet sheen of sweat on your skin

Tell me that it never happened
Never did, and won’t again
Nothing has changed

Tell me, that moment, so surreal
Had no purchase in what is real
We’re still the same

Tell me you won’t try to force it
Make me acknowledge or commit
Don’t make me run– run away

Let’s just pretend it’s still the same
Because I refuse to play this game
Of disappointment, heartbreak, sorrow- just let it go

And if you love me…
If you love me, don’t tell me- don’t tell me
Because I don’t want to know.
